Carphin's gatewardens wielded wide, double-bladed weapons as symbols of office. Spellworkers cast protective wards into the blades, causing them to glow in peacetime and dim near murderous intent. During the Harbinger onslaught, the gatewardens smote foes with blades as black as night.
