Restoring mana thanks to Pensive Melody and Hymn of the Mind. Use Hymn of the Mind on the Cleric or the person with the lowest mana. Song Mastery: Harmony will boost the effect of Hymn of the Mind while Pensive Melody is active.

\n\n\n\n

Important: If there are 2 Bards in the group – one of them should be playing Pensive Melody and the other Menacing Melody. Song Mastery: Harmony will increase the effect of Dark Lullaby (AOE) during Menacing Melody.

Crowd Control with the skills Mesmerizing Dance, Dark Lullaby (AOE), Marionette, Get Off The Stage.

Silence with Clever Retort.

Last moment save with Gambit. Use this skill on either the Tank or the Cleric. If you end up not using Gambit and your group is progressing smoothly, consider swapping this last resort skill with Anthem of Alacrity (AOE).

It will require considerable dedication or help in order to achieve those crafts. Even if the materials are available, a town with journeyman stations will be required.

Eye of Zom or Harrowed Stars Necklace should be the aim for the build, however there is no confirmation of how to obtain them.

Ring of the Raven Caller and Rividium Ring will provide the same healing output. Ring of the Raven Caller is more suitable for damage dealing.

Tip 1: Do not immediately jump on level 20 items. Some level 10 rare items are worth enchanting and could still provide more than common or uncommon level 20. Especially if there is no Journeyman Scriber available. Vine Field is an amazing AOE skill. It can assist the Tank of the party/raid with collecting the mobs. It can advance the Bleeding into Hemorraging from all enemies caught into the skill effect. However, there is one unfortunate downside. The visuals of the Vine Field can obscure unfriendly AOE abilities, especially in enclosed locations such as Tower of Carphin.

\n\n\n\n

Be aware of your surroundings when using Air Strike. You may end up pulling unwanted mobs or landing on an AOE from a mob (especially the nasty “spit” from the zombies).

\n\n\n\n

Party Stride is a situational skill which could help you and your party to move faster to a location. Use it when you are caught off guard and the party has to reach a safer location, quicker.

\n\n\n\n

Bear Trap is another situational skill which you may find a little use in a group environment.

\n\n\n\n

Hunt of the Raven works well with both Mark of the Bear and Mark of the Tiger.

In order to increase your damage output, you can drop either Party Stride or Bear Trap for Hunt of the Tiger in combination with Mark of the Tiger. Especially against less armored targets.

Divine Flare + Divine Retribution – 15s CD; AOE Silence. The targets within will not be able to use abilities, which greatly benefit the group farming.
Chains of Restraint + Binding Chains – 30s CD; AOE Stun. The initial damage tick can root the target(s) if they have been Weakened.

Deliverance can be held for longer to provide bigger heals, which might not be ideal in clutch moments. Have Flash Cure at ready for those situations.

\n\n\n\n

Two-handed swords have huge damage output, so you might expect Bards or other classes to be using melee weapon instead of ranged in the cases of AOE pulls. Resplendent Beam can be held for longer casting time and it will become an AOE heal.

Bloomwarden set can be farmed in Citadel of the Steel Bloom.

\n\n\n\n

Rosethorn Set can be farmed in Citadel of Steel Bloom.

Here is the comparison between the medium, the light and the heavy sets:

Enchanting is a method that can be done by all players and its benefits is used to enhance their gear and increase their stats further. The materials used for enchanting are enchanting scrolls. Enchantment Scrolls can be bought through vendors and for some other players who have chosen Scribing as their artisan skill. They can craft it themselves.

How Enchanting Works

\n\n\n\n

Next in Ultimate Guide to Enchanting in Ashes of Creation, How Enchanting Works? Enchanting can be considered as a high-risk high-reward type of gamble. Two scenarios could happen when an enchantment fails. The first one is that the enchantment level would be resettled back to zero (low stages of enchantment), and the other scene is where the gear will be destroyed (higher stages of enchantment).

Now let’s talk about the rewards. The more you enchant your gear, The more the stats for that gear will be increased. At a higher level of enhancement, it gives additional bonus stats. Thus, Will you take the risk?

Enchantment Types

\n\n\n\n

There are two types of Enchantment. Horizontal Enchantment and Vertical Enchantment. The vertical enchantment is not yet available in-game and will be added in a future update. Thus, Let`s differentiate the two.

Vertical Enchantments

\n\n\n\n

Vertical Enchantments provide direct power enhancement like increased damage, defense, or other power stats for a gear. Each attempt enchantment adds +1 to a gear you are enchanting. However, as the level of enchanting increase. The success rate decreases. Failure to enchant will reset the enchantment level or worst case scenario, the gear would be destroyed.

\n\n\n\n

Here is an example of an enchanted gear. As you can see the bow has an increased attack speed, strength, and penetration. Proving that enchantment will make you more powerful ever than before.

\n\n\n\n

Horizontal Enchantments

\n\n\n\n

As I have said earlier, this type is not currently in-game and will be added in a future update. This enchantment does not increase the base stats such as strength, speed, etc. but makes your gear more useful in specific situations.

\n\n\n\n

For example, You wanted to deal a certain type of damage to an enemy who is vulnerable to that. Thus, Horizontal Enchantment is the way to go. Also, This type of enchanting won’t have risks such as gear destruction, but it may take some time and effort.

How to Obtain Enchantment Scrolls?

\n\n\n\n

Tremoring Strike (12s CD)
Slam: Knockback (20s CD)
Ground Pound (60s CD and 33 courage)

If the aggro is not a problem, you can drop Inciting Strikes for another skill, which you might need. For example – you can get early Slam: Knockback or Punish.

If you find yourself in a group with a ranger, who snares the targets efficiently, you can consider swapping into Desolate with Punish for more AOE damage.

\n\n\n\n

Indomitable Spirit + Shake It Off combo will save you many times.

\n\n\n\n

Always use Fortify when you have maximum Courage – 20% less incoming damage for 20 seconds.

\n\n\n\n

Vengeance, in terms of providing defence, is beyond underwhelming. The other downside to this ability is that you spend courage to use it. This reduces the mitigation provided by Courageous, and if Grit is used, you will do less overall damage. Using fast weapons can negate this downside and the ability can become useful while farming solo.

\n\n\n\n

If you end up in a raid as “Off Tank” (2nd tank), you can use Protect to help keep the main Tank alive. If that is not the case, those 2 points can go into the nodes of Reflect – Refreshing Reflect and Oppressive Reflect.

\n\n\n\n

Stamina

It is wise to consider your stamina as “defensive cooldown”. If you have died on full stamina, that means you did something wrong. You could have either rolled away from danger or block the incoming damage.

Melee Weapon

A mace has slower attack speed, but provides higher physical power compared to a sword. The chosen weapon for the build also provides a good chunk of defensive stats. Dazed should always be taken instead of Staggered. Courageous and most of the abilities already provide Staggered. Dazed can help with interrupting nasty abilities by increasing the casting speed of the target.

\n\n\n\n

Inner Flame is great for self-sustaining. Indomitable Spirit further increases the effect of the node.

\n\n\n\n

Unstoppable vs Concussion – Unstoppable provides physical penetration for 5 seconds. Concussion provides Shaken. Having them both will significatly increase your finisher output.

\n\n\n\n

Unstoppable Aura vs Unstoppable Force – If in your group, you have rangers and fighters, you might consider the Aura. That will add 15% physical penetration to everyone in 35m range. Unstoppable Aura costs 4 points. Unstoppable Force adds an additional 15% damage for you.

\n\n\n\n

Unstoppable Force vs Supreme Concussion. In order to get the Supreme Concussion, you will need both nodes of Concussion. That will cost the same amount as Unstoppable Force. Unstoppable will provide benefits for all your damage tool kit. Supreme Concussion will increase the damage of your finishers.

\n\n\n\n

Because of the lack of 2 points, we can’t have 15% increased base damage, Supreme Concussion and 55% chance to proc Deadly Extended Finisher. The compromised option would be to swap Inner Flame for Rhythmic Swings (to increase the odds of getting Deadly Extended Finisher) and to be without “Concussion: Flexible Extended Finishers”.

Ranged Weapon

The Longbow provides more physical damage. For finishers, you have the option between Staggered and Wounded. Same logic as with the melee weapon – you do not need another source of Staggered debuff.

Rhythmic Swings vs Crushing Blows vs Inner Fire. Inner Fire can be ignored on the bow.

\n\n\n\n

Rhythmic Swings will increase the chance to proc the Deadly finishers. Crushing Blows will increase the raw damage of all your finishers.

It will be a rare occasion in which you will have to use Ranged Weapon for longer period of time. If it happens, you might consider Inspiring Bullseye in order to buff up your party, rather than to increase your limited damage.

Disclaimer: The process is slow! All the displayed items can drop, but to get them to legendary quality you will need the crafting recipe. It will require considerable dedication or help in order to achieve those crafts. Even if the materials are available, a town with journeyman armorsmith or weaponsmith or jeweler stations will be required.

In order to see which set of the 2 available is best suited for PVE Tank, all items are set in a legendary rarity. Some stats values can vary, therefore the minimal value has been taken to compare the sets.

Academus Set can be farmed in Tower of Carphin.

Rosarium Guard Set can be farmed in Citadel of Steel Bloom.

Two-handed sword provides the highest damage output and very needed debuffs for damage increase – Bleeding and Wounded. Start with Wounded since it is harder to maintain on target compared to Bleeding.

If maintaining Shaken is not an issue you can free up 3 points from Concussion and Concussion: Flexible Finishers. They can be placed in Power Through for additional 9% penetration on all weapon combo attacks. Another option would be to fill up the rest of Executioner and Deadly Extended Finisher Chance.

Ranged Weapon

However, you need to be in melee range in order to use your devastating abilities and they will benefit more from the higher physical power rating of Longbow. Bloodrunner set can be farmed in Tower of Carphin.

Rosarium Guard Set can be farmed in Citadel of Steel Bloom.

First we will look into comparison between the actual sets – Bloodrunner and Rosarium Guard:

\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Rosarium Guard set can provide a bit more defense from physical attacks and more raw damage.

\n\n\n\n

However, adding into the equation the 6% base critical from the medium set and the 190 critical chance rating, you should expect “big” numbers more frequently with the Bloodhunter Set.

Since the medium set contributes more to the damage done than the heavy set, here is the comparison of the other options:

\n\n\n\n

The Toren Scout set provides the highest defense stats. Unfortunately the offensive side is lacking.

\n\n\n\n

Gryphon items provide slightly more damage for the sake of defense compared to the Bloodrunner Set. However, by changing the Chest piece with Black Feathered Tunic, we can get a huge boost to the power rating and thus turning the Fighter into a “glass cannon” type of damage dealer.

The Bloodrunner set is the “safest” approach to PVE.

Lumber Milling in Ashes of Creation

Lumber Milling in Ashes of Creation, allows you to process any raw wood that you have gathered via the Lumberjacking skill and turn it into all different types of lumber ready to be refined later on.

The lumber milling station is essentially the “middle-man” of the production line when it comes to crafting. This station allows you to create items such as logs, planks, wood chips and boards and many other things from the raw wood that has been gathered.

\n\n\n\n

Once the wood has been processed, it can now be taken to a refining station such as the carpentry station, where it can be used to craft upgrades like a new caravan carriage or better cargo crates to help transport more items.

\n\n\n\n

Getting started

\n\n\n\n

Now that you have had a short introduction about the skill, it’s time to tell you how to get started. But before you decide to start leveling the Lumber Milling skill, we strongly recommend taking on the gathering skill, Lumberjacking.

\n\n\n\n

Lumberjacking and Lumber Milling, go hand in hand as you will have to cut trees in order to get wood for your lumber milling skill. So, it is highly recommended and efficient to level both at the same time.

\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

In order to get started, simply head to any major town and locate the Lumber Milling station. Interact with it by pressing the “F” key, where you will see the first set of recipes that you can craft. At a novice station, you will only be able to craft Timber and Wood Chips.

\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Add the resource you wish to use, such as Timber, and click the “Fuel” button. Here you will want to select the amount of fuel that is required to process your wood. We always recommend using wood for this too, as it’s super easy to get, but it also counts as a high amount of fuel.

\n\n\n\n

Now click the “Start Job” button and come back when the timer is done and the processing is ready.

\n\n\n\n

Batch Processing

\n\n\n\n

If you are wondering how you can craft more than just one, you can click the Job Size button on the top right and select the batch you would like to craft (1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250). The only downside to this, is that you must have the exact amount of resources. You can not select a batch of 20 and bring only 19. You will have to do a batch of 15 and 4 separate batches of 1, in order to do this.

\n\n\n\n

A novice lumber milling station also only allows you to que 1 job at a time. So we recommend doing big batches at once, then coming back later on when it’s finished, to be the most efficient. As the stations upgrade over time, the more batches it will allow you to do.

\n\n\n\n

More recipes

\n\n\n\n

In order to find and use better recipes at the lumber milling station, it will require two things. One, you will need to be level 10 in the crafting skill.

\n\n\n\n

Two, you will need to find a town which has an upgraded station called “Apprentice Lumber Milling Station”. This station will reveal and show you all new apprentice recipes that can be crafted.

\n\n\n\n

Lumber Milling Upgrades

\n\n\n\n

Now that we have explained the general basics of lumber milling, we strongly advise visiting a lumber milling vendor. This vendor will allow you to purchase clothing. This can hugely benefit you.

\n\n\n\n

Purchasing items such as a “Novice Lumber Miller’s Shirt”, will allow you to gather more XP when processing wood at the station. This can help massively as it will allow you to gain levels way faster than usual.

\n\n\n\n

Once you hit level 10, we then recommend purchasing the “Apprentice Lumber Miller’s Shirt” and “Apprentice Lumber Miller’s Skivvies”, as these both paired together will increase the rarity of your processed wood and give you even more additional experience points.

How To Progress Further

\n\n\n\n

Once you have hit level 10 in lumber milling, it’s time to find a town that has an independent plot called “Woodshop”. The Woodshop has an upgraded station called “Apprentice Lumber Milling Station” which is within the plot. This station will allow you to craft and see the next tier of recipes.

\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Although you can not use the new apprentice recipes straight away as you MUST talk to the Woodshop Foreman NPC in the plot and upgrade your lumber milling certificate beforehand. This will allow you to reach level 20 in the skill now and also allow you to use all apprentice recipes.

Artisan Gear and consumables can increase the stats of a particular Gathering Skills. There are 4 Gathering Skills. Quantity Rating, which increases the chance to get additional items while gathering, Rarity Rating, enhances the chance to gather more rarity items, Speed Rating, which Boosts the speed of gathering, Xp Rating, increases the Xp gained during gathering. You can press “H” so you can open your artisan tab where the stats is shown to you,

Gathering Tools

As the current state of the game, There are 5 tools for 5 different gathering methods. These are Bow (hunting), Fishing Pole (Fishing), Pickaxe (Mining), Sickle (Herbalism) and Axe (Lumberjacking). During the beginning quests, You acquire all of the tools with the Novice rarity. Take note that you can only upgrade your Gathering Tools through Crafting and cannot be bought or traded with other players.

\n\n\n\n

To gather higher rarity of items, the tool used must be on the same rarity or higher. So Make sure that you must upgrade your gathering tools and don`t leave them at novice level if you want to craft much higher equipment later on in the game.

\n\n\n\n

Artisan Gear (Gathering Profession)

\n\n\n\n

Each Gathering Skill has its own unique Artisan Gear and it consists of 3 parts. Shirt, Pants, and Tool Belt. Also, there are 3 levels of Gathering Profession. At the Novice Level, you can equip a Shirt only. At Apprentice Level you can equip Shirt and Pants and at the Journeyman Level, You can equip 3 artisan gear all at once. Artisan Gear also gives general stats aside from giving the Gathering Skill stats mentioned earlier.

Bags

\n\n\n\n

Bags serve as storage for your gathered materials. There are different types of Bags but resources can be stored on any bag. These bags are Mining, Fishing, Lumberjacking, Herbalism, and Hunting Bag. But a quick tip for you is that the Mining Bag is the most efficient since it has a larger size compared to the other bags.

\n\n\n\n

Consumables

\n\n\n\n

There are three types of consumables that can increase your efficiency of gathering. These are Scrolls, Elixirs, Food and Pylons. Each of them have their specific effect which will be discussed below.

Scrolls

\n\n\n\n

Scrolls provide a gathering XP buff for 3 hours. There are Scroll of Mining wherein it increases your Mining XP. Novice and Journeyman Rarity of Scrolls can be bought from mining vendors. Another type of scrolls are like a general version which is a Gathering Experience Scroll. However, Novice level of rarity can only be bought from the laboratory and to craft the apprentice level and journeyman level of the same scroll it can be done through crafting with scribes. Take note that these scrolls do not require a high level of gathering skill. They can be bought for a Novice gathering level.

Elixir

\n\n\n\n

These consumables can be crafted by alchemists found in laboratories in tier 3 or Higher. The general buff for gathering is quite tedious since it requires 5 different tier-3 materials. On the other hand, the specialized gathering elixir only requires 3 ingredients wherein the 2 is purchased only from the vendor.

\n\n\n\n

Food

\n\n\n\n

Food made by cooks are a buff that increases the rarity rating of the gathering. Same with elixirs, there are general food which gives buff for general gatherings and a specialized one for a specialized gathering type buff. Also, the higher the rarity of the food buff the more complex the ingredients are but Food buffs also give combat buffs as a side bonus and it lasts 60 minutes so crafting it is quite worth it.

Pylons

\n\n\n\n

This is a placable item on the ground that has an Area of Effect buff within the radius of it. Pylons also has two types, A general one and a specialized one. The higher rarity of the pylons the greater the increase in gathering stats.

Mounts and Archetypes

\n\n\n\n

Gathering takes a lot of movement since you will be roaming around the map looking for gathering sources or nodes. It is best to take a good and fast mount to traverse faster. Also, A ranger archetype has a 10 percent movement speed buff and a skill that can also increase 20 percent speed. Also, rangers have a skill to climb terrains to further access nodes for gathering.

Node Buff

\n\n\n\n

While looking for Node resources for your gathering. Make sure to check the status effect of your character found on the top of your screen. Sometimes node’s location have a buff which increases the speed of gathering.

Certification Level

\n\n\n\n

Each 10-level gathering grants a certification level. So a certification grants the character to craft higher-tier tools. Once equipped, these tools are improved version that further increases the speed, rarity, and quantity of gathering. It also increases your progression rate by a large margin. Now I will discuss the different gathering types that you can do as of the alpha 2 of Ashes of Creation. This could change in the future or some new gathering method can be added in to the game.

Lumberjacking

\n\n\n\n

Lumberjacking is the easiest gathering type since trees are found easily from afar and they are abundant in almost every terrain. Also, Lumberjacking is used in milling, carpentry, farming, metalworking, and scribing and also serves as a fuel for processing. There are six types of trees found around the world of Ashes of Creation.

\n\n\n\n

Tier 1 Trees (Oak, Ashi, Western Larch, Eastern Hemlock)

\n\n\n\n

Oak is found almost everywhere and it is considered to be the most common.

\n\n\n\n

Ashi is the second most common and can be found also easily alongside oak

\n\n\n\n

Western Larch is a rarer type of tree in this tier and they can be found along the mountains and in the northern and northwestern parts of the map

\n\n\n\n

Eastern hemlock is the rarest in terms of tier 1 trees. They spawn at the same location as the western larch and western larch and eastern hemlock are adolescent trees and you can only gather 2 pieces of wood per tree.

\n\n\n\n

Tier 2 Trees (Weeping Willow)

\n\n\n\n

Weeping willows are found in two to three numbers only while walking or traversing the map. Such trees are hard to find since there are no clusters of them. However, they are easy to spot because of the color of the leaves and the shape of the tree.

Mining lets you gather various types of ores, stones, and gems. Mining synergizes with metalworking, stone masonry, and weapon and armor crafting. To power level mining, focus on the tier 1 stones for easy experience.

Novice Mining Level

Novice miners can mine basalt, granite, zinc, copper, and ruby. Basalt and Granite are easy to find. However, when it comes to copper and zinc, you can only detect them through heat maps and these two resources are viable for crafting and processing skills.

Apprentice Mining Level

\n\n\n\n

Upon reaching this level, Miners can get slate, tin, emerald, and halcyonite.

\n\n\n\n

Journeyman Mining Level

\n\n\n\n

In the final stage of mining, miners can unlock mining of Limestone, Wyrdstone, Iron, Lumadon, and Sapphire where it is considered a higher rarity of gems.

\n\n\n\n

Herbalism

\n\n\n\n

A method of gathering that focuses on plants. The plants are commonly used in weaving, tailoring, alchemy, cooking, and other artisan professions. The difficulty of this gathering type is the same as mining.

Novice Herbalism Level

\n\n\n\n

Novices can gather daffodils, snowdrops, and flax. they are tier-1 herbalism items and are easy to find around the map. The difference is flax is much harder to get in abundance since they do not spawn in clusters. But, They can be planted and harvested through buying flax seeds from a vendor.

Apprentice Herbalism Level

\n\n\n\n

Players can gather Giant Bluebell and Moonbell in this level.

\n\n\n\n

Journeyman Herbalism Level

\n\n\n\n

Players can gather Grave Lily, Blood-Boiled Spiritbloom, Gloomy Pross Petals, and Spindlevine.

Hunting

\n\n\n\n

Hunting allows players to hunt animals and gather their remains for loot. Animal parts are used for cooking, tanning, and leatherworking. Hunting is more challenging compared to other gathering types due to the animals are lower in number compared to other gatherable resources. Also, Extensive traveling is also considered in order to find a huntable animal.

Animals for Mounts

\n\n\n\n

These animals when gathered can serve and be trained as mounts. These are Horses and Pallas Cat,

Animals for Mount or Carcass

\n\n\n\n

These animals when stained provided carcass that gives loot that can be used for food or leathermaking. These are bears and wolves.

Animals only for Carcass

\n\n\n\n

These animals will provide only a carcass or a corpse when encountered. These animals are ravens, grams, and spiders.

Fishing

\n\n\n\n

Fishing allows the player to catch and cook the fish for consumption or other uses in cooking. There are two types of fishing, freshwater fishing and deep-sea fishing. However, Freshwater fishing is the only type in the current state of the game. All of the players can afk while fishing but there is a 30 minute time limit before the game logged you out.

Fishes

There are 4 fish that are existing in the game. These are Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Salmon, and Lamprey. Largemouth Bass and Bluegill can be caught by a Novice Level. A Salmon by Apprentice Level and a lamprey by a Journeyman level.

Pylons

There are pylons for fishing that increase the rarity chance since experience is based on the rarity of the fish.

It will have the ability to unlock Caravansaries which enables players to buy Caravans with gold. Caravans provide more rewards than just selling glints so make sure to reserve your glints.
